The Phoenix project

This is the videoblog of the Phoenix project.

This project began thanks to the mediation of the Centre International de Culture Populaire in Paris which has been working since 2004 with the Dheisheh refugee camp.

The cooperation beween Al-Feneiq cultural centre in Dheisheh, Palestine and the French video collective Regarde à Vue aims at promoting the use of video in the activities of the centre. It allows Al-Feneiq and Regarde à Vue to exchange their experiences and ways of using new technologies and video. Regarde à Vue will use its own experience in videoclip, documentaries, fiction and netpublishing to achieve this goal.

Al-Feneiq Cultural Center

Al-Feneiq is a cultural center in the refugee camp of Dheisheh, south of Bethlehem, created in 1997 to provide the camp population with a variety of cultural activities and community support for a population living in extremely dire conditions.

During the 2nd intifada the centre was destroyed by the Israeli army but was rebuilt earning its name as the Phoenix.

Regarde à Vue

…is a French video collective born in 1998 with the making of a short-length movie: Sun is shining, its activity is centered on video making and Internet.

The collective promotes the use of these tools in a democratic, mutualized way.
