Workshop videos 2007
We worked on 4 films with our Palestinian friends, all approximately 5 minutes long. The first to be online is called « Echoes of the Camp ». It was made by a group of young Palestinan beween 18 to 21 years old as all the other films. You can view it here with English subtitles.
The second film to be online is called « ? ». It is our only fiction film and it is looks rather different from the others films although many elements of the story are alike.
The third film is called « The Silence of Life ». It shows an interview with one of the oldest person still alive in Dheisheh : Abu Ibrahim. He has experienced the British Mandate, the « Nakba » and the Israeli occupation, and is also one of the last who can play an old Palestinian instrument called Rababa.
The last but not least of our films used to be called « Our dream » but got a much longer title in the process. It is mainly focused on the walls of the camp and the paintings on them. Many stories are told with only a few symbols. It is also nice to watch this film after the one on Abu Ibrahim because the same elements like the key, dates and images of exodus are present.
This video is a request from our host, the Al-Feneiq Center. It is a short video (5′) of the ending Conference of Generation Palestine’s Summer Camp. One of the uses of video in the center is to serve the documentation and archiving of their activities. Our friends will have a lot of work here, because there is a lot going on.
